Liberty Prize was established in 1999 and is awarded once a year to
prominent Russian writers, poets, artists, musicians or other cultural
fugures who made an outstanding contribution to the American society. The
jury members are Grisha Bruskin, Alexander Genis and Solomon Volkov. The
prize is sponsored by the American University in Moscow and Media Group
Kontinent USA
(Eduard Lozansky and Margo Grant).
Year 2000 winners were artist Vagrich Bakhchanian and literary
scholar and essayist Mikhail Epstein.
